Day One

The Mpuluzi Footprint

A footprint-shaped feature pressed into granite on a Mpumalanga hillside — roughly 1.2 metres long, and the subject of local stories for generations.

Geologists read it as a natural formation in the rock. Local tradition reads it differently. Your guide gives you both, and lets you stand there and make up your own mind — which is precisely why it makes such a good beginning to a journey about story, wildlife and landscape.

How we present it. We share the legends that surround the site alongside the geological explanation, without presenting either as settled fact.

The Five-Day Itinerary

Johannesburg → Mpuluzi → Kruger National Park → Panorama Route → Johannesburg

Day1

Johannesburg → Mpuluzi Footprint → Kruger

Depart Johannesburg in the morning and travel towards Mpumalanga. Your first major experience is the Mpuluzi Footprint — a footprint-shaped geological feature surrounded by local stories and interpretations. Your guide introduces the landscape from both a cultural and a geological perspective, so the attraction can be appreciated without presenting legend as proven scientific fact. Continue towards the Kruger National Park area.

Day2

Full-Day Kruger Safari

Rise early for a full day of wildlife exploration, travelling through different sections of the park in search of South Africa's iconic wildlife. Your Malala-Tau guide interprets wildlife behaviour, tracks, vegetation, conservation and the broader ecosystem as the day unfolds.

Day3

Second Full-Day Kruger Safari

Another full day dedicated to the wild. Different routes and habitats open up new sightings and photographic opportunities. The programme adapts to guest interests, wildlife movements, weather, park regulations, gate times and where you are staying.

Day4

Kruger → Panorama Route → Graskop

Leave the Kruger area and begin the journey along the Panorama Route. Stop at the Three Rondavels, one of the most recognisable viewpoints over the Blyde River Canyon; explore the dramatic cylindrical formations at Bourke's Luck Potholes; then continue into the escarpment for the views across the Lowveld from God's Window. Depending on time, weather and operating conditions, a waterfall such as Lisbon or Berlin Falls is added before you continue to Graskop.

Day5

Graskop → Johannesburg

Breakfast before the return journey to Johannesburg. Depending on your departure time and travel arrangements, optional stops can be built in along the way. Arrive in Johannesburg in the afternoon or evening.
